Its been nearly two weeks since we've had the opportunity to work as a team at the outreach program in Lumanda farm, Mount Hampdon Zimbabwe. First aiders (also known as cadets), as well as helpers from St John Ambulance We got the chance to speak with the people of the area, nurse the children and visit some of their houses close to the area where we were located. We, the cadets got the chance to rotate stations which included:
- Registering the patients
- Weighing and checking the temperature of the children
- Addressing family planning for sexually active women
- Assisting in the immunisation of the children
- Administering medication to the patients
This experience made me realise that we are privileged and that we sometimes take things for granted. life is worth living every moment wisely.
